The Next Hurtle

The past 10 days have been quite the waiting game. The buyers had an inspection done, then they had a contractor come out to review some specific things, and in the mean time we had other people looking at the house and more hopeful people interested in the house, but no one that could put in an offer because we are under contract. Then tonight we got the repairs list and began to battle. The whole exchange is a lot like gambling you don't want to loose everything from being too greedy, but you also don't want to be too hasty and miss out on something greater.

Tomorrow the realtor comes so that we can sign off on the final agreement which is paying closing costs, repairing a couple cracked windows, and leaving the fridge (which were our intentions all along). I guess from here our house is appraised and we work on the closing details. I have been holding out for this moment for a while because I didn't want to give my notice at work or "stop staging" because we didn't know for sure what was going to happen. And while you still never know for sure, the option period is officially over which means it's time to start packing.
Speaking of packing, if anyone has any tips about moving feel free to share! So far I have learned that liquor stores carry some of the best free boxes and Penske seems to be in the lead for moving trucks. Honestly we may have to rent a special truck to haul me off after seeing how much this move is going to cost us!!!

The best advice I can give is to assign each box a number, and write that number on all sides of the box (along with where it goes like "Girls Room" or "Kitchen"). Get a notebook and then write what you have in each box next to the box's number. You don't have to write everything, but a good description will help you later when you are looking for a particular item or contents from a specific drawer. Good luck!

Kristina said exactly what I was going to say! The only thing I would change is that we color-coded the rooms (with garage sale colored dot stickers) instead of writing out each room. I hope it all goes well!!

Get friends and family to help you move! With each move, we've enlisted our family members (mainly my dad and brother) to help us get the boxes and furniture from living point A to living point B :) And make sure you have one person who is great at packing a truck cause less space used is a small truck which costs less! If you lived closer, I have a TON of boxes in the attic that we are saving for anyone who might need them to move.
